I've been smoking for a few years now. This is a chronicle of my experience quitting from day one until I no longer feel the urge for a cigarette. I hope this blog becomes inspirational to anyone else wants to quit but needs that extra push in the right direction.

Certain situations influence me to smoke more than usual.
Drinking situations; as I’ve said before God hand picked cigarettes and beer and married them right before he started the big bang, there’s no doubting it.
Hunger situations; for me cigs were a great appetite suppressant for my already nearly non existant appetite.
Social Smoking Situations; when you’re a college student, especially at a college like mine in NYC with very few entrances and exits, you find that getting to class involves a daily trek through smokers and the clouds of delicious nicotine that surrounds them.
Don’t believe me? Go to your local college and check out the entrances to the dorms around 7-9 o clock at night. Anyone outside not smoking? Didn’t think so.
For me one of the most useful (yes, useful) aspects of smoking was getting a break from the monotony of w.e was going on. Ditching for a few minutes to get some “fresh” air if I was bored with what was going on.
Concerts…. waiting on line is the first cigarette (or 2 depending on the lines length) then after the first bands set, then the second opener, and so on until the walk back to the car.
These are the kinds of things I’m going to have to avoid for a little while until I can get the cravings under control. But on second thought, when you’re a smoker everything you do is integrated with cigarette smoking. It’s just a battle of will power in order to break the mental habits.
